Oh Bother

Well it looks like I've slipped back into old habits again....but I'm back and that's all that matters right!

So here's a quick recap of fall semester so far!

First off I got the job! The interview went great! It was actually kinda funny during the interview Mindy ( my boss) asked what I liked to bake and I told her about how I was gluten free and it was a challenge but I still baked. She asked what kinds of flours I used and I listed some and I also said xanthanm gum. Little did I know that word pretty much got me the job. Mindy was like we use that stuff! And the other guy in the room was like wow you know what that is!? The best part was when Mindy leaned over whispered to me that that I would get paid more for knowing about xanthanm gum! Haha found out later it only got raised by 20 cents but I guess that better than nothin!

The first day on the job was going really good until I sliced my finger. I was setting down a box of tinfoil and the jagged edge you used to cut the tinfoil sliced my finger. I looked down and saw blood and turned to Tim (an other head chef) and showed him my cut. He took me to the sink and we washed the cut but soon I began to feel light headed. So he sat me down in a chair. The next thing I know I'm on a bench with someone propping me up and there are a bunch if people standing around me and this one lady asked me if I had a heart condition. I was so confused. The EMTs came and took my blood pressure and gave me a bandaid. It was quite the first day...cut myself and passed out...not a good first impression.

Oh man but I really do love this job! It's like a dream that I get paid to make food!

So the elms has been a blast! These are my cool, super chill roommates (Genivevee, Lizzy, Haley, Shani, Nikki)
It always a good time in out apt. B104 woop woop! We are always cooking or baking, it's a good time.

So we aren't allowed to have plants or pets in our apt so we got both. Say hello to out chia pet scooby!!

Pretty much life is good and I'm loving it here in p-town.

Back to School

On Sunday Thomas and I started the road trip back to Utah for school! The trip was interesting... You see my family doesn't really do road trips so this was kinda the first major road trip I has gone on in a while. After Sam gave his farewell talk we hopped in the car (blue Honda Fit) with all of my stuff and headed out for the open road.

The first day of driving was definitely the longest. Thomas and I took turns driving but I did most if the driving. Once we got to Boise we were definitely tired and ready for some sleep. We had to get up early the next morning because we had six more hours of driving and I needed to be to provo by three for a job interview! It was for campus catering. (Fill you in on that later) so we headed out at about 7:15 but before we left we watched the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen!

I tried getting a good picture but the thing I learned this summer is sunsets and sunrises are really hard to photograph. You are standing there looking at this beautiful thing and the pictures never do it justice. But this turned out really well surprisingly!

The second day of driving seemed so short compared to the first day. Probably because I took a nap while Thomas drove for a while. :)

At around 1:15pm we made it to Provo which gave me just enough time to change, eat and take a quick nap before my interview.

The Dress

Recently it has been hard to go shopping. Why you ask? Well tall girl + short "in style" clothes = sad tall girl that's out of style. I had been hunting for a lace dress long enough and I decided it was time to take my own action. So for the past month or so I have been sewing a lace dress with the help of my wonderful aunt Nancy! It's finally done and I wore it for the first time last Sunday.

I. Love. It. It's long enough, it's lace oh the list could go on! I'm so happy with the way it turned out. It was also fun spending time with nancy and learning all of her sewing knowledge. I can't wait to start my next project.

Beach Party!

This weekend I went to Lincoln City with the family. (Mom,Dad, Nick) It was so much fun! Well it did get off on a little bumpy start. The days leading up to the trip Dad and Nick were working on the helicopter that my dad bought a while ago. They were trying to hook a camera up to it so we could get some really cool footage. However about 22 miles into the trip dad realized that he had forgot the box that had the batteries and camera parts for the helicopter so we had to turn around. On the bright side mom, Nick and I went shopping at Woodburn Outlet Mall while Dad went back for the stuff.

About 5 miles away from Lincoln City we stopped on Otis, OR to eat at the Otis Cafe. Man was it delicious!

The next day for dinner we ate at this pizza place. They had gluten free pizza it was super good.

We tried spending the day at the beach but it was super windy. We came back later at sunset and flew the helicopter and watched a beautiful sunset.

Overall it was a really great trip! Can't wait to go back sometime!

I'm basically a pro now! I've also been working on something else but I will reveal the final product once it is finished :)

Currently it is 1:14am. Why am I up so late you ask? Well the answer is I just got off work. And you want to know what else? I have to work this late again tomorrow nigh!! Lucky me :/ I guess I can't complain cause I'm making bank. Well I off to bed. Night!

Peaceful Sunday

This morning I picked up my parents and Nick up from the airport. They just got back from Japan! Those lucky ducks I love Japan!! They were touring Nicks mission and visiting the people he taught and what not. They got me this shirt while they were there :D
I love this movie! If you haven't seen Monsters University I highly suggest it. Haha but it's so fun to hear stories about their trip. Hopefully I can go back again some day!

Other than that today has been very peaceful. Took a nap, made some biscuits, caught up with my mom. Overall a very relaxing Sunday.

The weather has been so great this past week. So warm and sunny and wonderful. I went to Emma's house on Friday and she had an amazing garden. She gave me a flower to take home :)

Things like this just make me so grateful for this wonderful world we live in. God has so many beautiful creations that make the world so pretty. Another great Sunday :)

Welcome!

Well hello there! Welcome to my wonderful life! No i'm not one of those people trying to get a bunch of followers and be one of those super cool bloggers, I just made this blog so I could talk about life and have kind of a journal I guess!  I've always wished that I had kept a better journal so we will see how this goes!

So let's get up to speed on what's been happening recently. At the end of April I finished my first year of college. It was the best time of my life.

I could pictures for days but those were just a few of the good times of college!

When I got home I started working at my very first job at Bridgeport Village Regal Cinema 18! Yes this is my first job ever! Kinda exciting :) I work about three 9 hours shifts a week. Two of them are usually closing shifts which means I don't get done until about 1 or 2 am. It can be hard but I'm liking the money! $8.95 an hour. I ain't complaining!! This is kinda cheesy but every Friday I get paid and when I cash the check on my phone it makes a "cha ching!" sound. It's one if my favorite parts of my job. Hahaha I know....it's wired but that just me!

Since I have a job this summer I haven't really vacationed much. I did go to Long beach, Washington for the 4th of July. Haha I'll have to post about that sometime!

When I'm not working or trying to vay cay  I have been baking up a storm. I can't even begin to tell you how much I LOVE baking!! Here just a few of the things I've made :)

GF Fruit Pizza

Chocolate Cupcakes w/ Salted Caramel Frosting

Coconut key Lime Bars

GF Chocolate Cupcakes w/ Vanilla Frosting

GF Funfetti Cupcakes

Oh my just looking at these just makes me want to get back in the kitchen.

Overall this summer has been really great! Since I was at school last summer it's finally nice to have a break from school. Being at home has been fun but I am definitely getting really excited to go back to school.

I'm exciting about this blog and I hope that I stick to it so I can look back at it and laugh and be filled with great memories :)
